Festival Provides “Creative Space” for UA Artists

On Thursday, Nov. 22, University of Alabama students, faculty, and alumni will converge under the shady trees of the Canterbury Chapel lawn to celebrate the inaugural Creative Space: Art from the Crimson Heart arts and crafts festival.

Just in time for the holiday season, festival goers will have the opportunity to purchase artwork from several artists and craftspeople, including Sara Hart, Candice Ji, Ashley McWaters, Marc Burnette, Courtney Barr, the Crimson Clay Co-op, Celia O’Kelley, Lori Layden, Tea Town Alabama, and many more.

The first of its kind in Tuscaloosa, the festival aims to provide a “Creative Space” for student artists and established local artists to share their work with the community. Artists will have the chance to demonstrate their craft and dialogue with community members about their original work. Musicians, poets, and thespians will also perform at the festival.

This one-day festival will last from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. The deadline for vendors is Nov. 1. If you would like more information, or are interested in becoming a vendor, email Amelia Horshok at Please include information about yourself, a description of your art, and photos of the art you wish to sell.
